BOTOX® Cosmetic and Fillers

Request a Consultation

BOTOX® Cosmetic and fillers are non-surgical cosmetic treatments designed to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and volume loss in the face. BOTOX® works by temporarily relaxing facial muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles, while fillers correct lost facial volume and smooth out deeper lines. Either of both of these treatments can restore a more youthful, refreshed appearance with little to no downtime.

About the Procedure

Both BOTOX® Cosmetic and fillers are quick, minimally invasive treatments that are administered via injection here in-office. Here’s what you can expect:

01

BOTOX® Cosmetic

For the treatment, BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected directly into the targeted facial muscles using a very fine needle. The treatment typically takes only 10 to 15 minutes, after which patients can return home or attend to other daily activities. Results begin to appear within a few days and last for 3 to 4 months, at which point another treatment is recommended.

02

Fillers

For the treatment, the filler is injected into the targeted areas using a fine needle. The treatment can take anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the areas being treated. Results are immediate and can last from 1 to 2 years, at which point another treatment is recommended.

Candidates

You may be a candidate for BOTOX® Cosmetic or fillers if:

  • You have fine lines or wrinkles caused by facial expressions (BOTOX® Cosmetic)
  • You have wrinkles around your eyes, between your brows, or on your forehead (BOTOX® Cosmetic)
  • You have volume loss in the cheeks, lips, or lower face (fillers)
  • You have deeper wrinkles or creases in the cheeks, nasolabial folds, and lower face (fillers)
  • You are in good overall health and have realistic expectations for the outcome

Recovery

BOTOX® Cosmetic and fillers have minimal downtime. Here’s what you can expect after your treatment:

  1. Immediately After

You may experience mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection sites. These side effects are temporary and should subside within a few hours to a few days. You can resume normal activities immediately after treatment, but it’s best to avoid strenuous exercise, lying down, or rubbing the treated areas for the first 24 hours.

  2. Results

BOTOX® Cosmetic results typically become visible within a few days and last 3 to 4 months. Results from fillers are immediate and can last from 1 to 2 years. For both treatments, regular follow-up treatments can help maintain your results over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do the resultWhat is the difference between BOTOX® Cosmetic and fillers?s of a Mommy Makeover last?

While they are both injectable treatments used for facial rejuvenation, BOTOX® Cosmetic and fillers are quite different. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a neurotoxin that blocks nerve signals to select facial muscles, causing them to lie flat so that they do cause dynamic wrinkles in the upper face. JUVÉDERM® (our preferred dermal filler) is a hyaluronic acid filler that fills in lost volume and smooths out deeper lines and static wrinkles in the mid and lower face.

How does BOTOX® Cosmetic work?

BOTOX® is a neurotoxin that temporarily relaxes the muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles, such as crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead lines. By preventing these muscles from contracting, BOTOX® Cosmetic allows the skin to relax. This smooths out wrinkles and fine lines, giving the face a more youthful appearance.

How do fillers work?

Fillers restore lost volume to areas such as the cheeks, lips, and nasolabial folds. There are different types of fillers; for example, JUVÉDERM® (offered here at our practice) is a hyaluronic acid-based filler. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the skin that helps maintain hydration and fullness. JUVÉDERM® can also be used to smooth out deep creases, static wrinkles, and fine lines for a more youthful, plump appearance.

Are BOTOX® Cosmetic and fillers safe?

BOTOX® Cosmetic and JUVÉDERM® fillers (offered here at our practice) are FDA-approved and have been used safely for many years. As with any cosmetic treatment, there is the potential for side effects such as bruising, swelling, or allergic reactions. These risks are rare and can be minimized by choosing an experienced provider.

Can BOTOX® Cosmetic and fillers be combined?

Yes, these two treatments can be combined to address different types of facial aging. BOTOX® Cosmetic can be used to smooth out dynamic wrinkles around the eyes and brows while fillers can restore lost volume and smooth out deeper static wrinkles in the cheeks, nose, and mouth areas.

When will I see my results?

Results from fillers are immediately visible. BOTOX® Cosmetic results take a few days to develop.

How long do results last?

The results of BOTOX® Cosmetic typically last 3 to 4 months, and the results from fillers may last 1 to 2 years. For both, regular maintenance treatments are recommended to keep your results looking their best.
